Another thing that intriegues me is that the card comes back online with
a reset of the driver modules, although this will have no effect on the
temperature things work fine again for a period of time. Is there
possibly something else that we are missing here? Very happy to assist
with debugging this issue - know my way around C code but I would have
to admit to being a bit of a rookie when it comes to driver level stuff...

(Svideo) loses sync and the pictures starts to roll. I can fix it by
changing to a text console and then back again to X windows (with
MythTV).
I'll try changing the PCI slot and move it further away from the
graphics card.

I am experiencing what I can only describe as 'parameter
drift' on the
card. I tune up the card nicely and watch TV for a while.
Machine gets
left on. By the next day, the card is unable to achieve tuning
lock. I
unload and reload the modules, and hey presto - we're working
again.
This problem shows up when using DVB. I havn't tried FM radio or
Analogue TV.
Any ideas what might be going on here?

This can be a temperature problem. The first generation of the
tuners on
this card has an enormous power consumption. How old is the
driver you are
using?
In the last months, i changed the driver to:
- put unused components to standby mode
- make the dvb-t channel decoder more tolerant to xtal frequency
offsets.
so can you please get a recent driver from www.linuxtv.org
<http://www.linuxtv.org/> and retry?
If you have a recent driver can you try to ensure that there is some
air flow around the card (i.e. by freeing the PCI slots close to
it)?

You are right of corse with the reset. Though the reason might be that
the DSP of the channel decoder has cashed. If you try to tune dvb after
the card has broken down, are there any "strange" messages in the kernel
log?
