If it is empty look at dmesg to see if there is problem with the hardware.

An additional info:

Hi Florian,

did you install the udev package on your machine ?
udev is the successor of hotplug and will generate all device files under
/dev/dvb/adapter* for you, dynamically, that is hot-pluggable, not just at
boot time.
