You are aware that the HD trial in London is using a low-power transmitter intended to only be receivable inside the north and south circular road (though people as far afield have reported receiving it). Also might I recommend using a recent CVS of Kaffeine. It's able to scan and find the HD trial channels, and can easily record them too (it does a much better job of recording ITV/Ch4/five than VLC does).
