I have bought a
Hauppage Nova-T USB which is not getting detected by the kernel when I
insert it in the USB port. All that I see in syslog is the following:
kernel: usb 1-1: new high
speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
kernel: usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
and then silence. Nothing at all. Not a sausage.
I have searched LinuxTV and elsewhere on the Internet and can't work
out what to do next. I'm reasonably competent with Linux but would
appreciate it if someone could tell me what I've forgotten to do!
Some background:
- Fedora Core 4 on
a desktop PC
- kernel 2.6.17.13
with every DIB and DVB module that looks vaguely relevant
- I've copied the
firmware file dvb-fe-tda10046.fw in /lib/firmware (as per the
documentation - I've tried other versions too without success)
- udev is working
fine on my system (I have a USB IDE drive which is appears in /dev and
/media when I plug it in and my digital camera also works fine)
- lsusb lists the
device when I plug it in so I think it is working OK (although its
light doesn't come on):
# lsusb
...
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 2040:7050 Hauppauge
...
- I've included
the full lsusb output at the end of this email if it helps (and can of
course provide any other detail required)
- I've tried
loading the modules manually but that doesn't help.
Thanks in advance for
any pointers you can give me and apologies if this is solved on a FAQ
somewhere.

Nick Rozanski.
