Hi All, =========== Into ================= I apologise for confusion. I am new to lists, dont like asking for help. I was asked to create a new subject for my post, to make it easier to follow, so I have changed the subject again(!!!). I have a VIA mini-ITX CN700 and Twinhan 1025 DVB-S card. I have been using the Twinhan 1022 card for a while, with a lot of success. The 1025 is giving me a head ache. My distro is Fedora 4, but I use vanilla kernels from kernel.org and the 1022 card worked fine on the FC kernel. I have tried the steps below with 2.6.17.8, 10 and 11 and have the same results. Thanks to Mike, Dave and Manu for the help thus far. The "make distclean" was not the miracle answer. =========== Kernel setup ============== # uname -a Linux ptqtest2 2.6.17.10 #2 Sat Sep 9 07:49:41 SAST 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux # tar -jxvf linux-2.6.17.10.tar.bz2 # make menuconfig (set DVB as Modules) # make -j2 && make modules && make modules_install # cp bzImage /boot/vmlinuz # mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.6.17.10 2.6.17.10 edit /boot/grub/menu.lst # reboot ============ V4L-DVB setup ============== # hg clone http://linuxtv.orf/hg/v4l-dvb (which sometimes give service not known error) # cd v4l-dvb # make distclean # make all # make install # reboot ============ tuning card =============== # modprobe dvb-core # modprobe bttv card=113 # modprobe dvb-bt8xx # modprobe dst verbose=4 ============ Devices created =========== # ls -l /dev/dvb/adapter0/ total 0 crw-rw---- 1 root root 212, 4 Sep 9 08:24 demux0 crw-rw---- 1 root root 212, 5 Sep 9 08:24 dvr0 crw-rw---- 1 root root 212, 7 Sep 9 08:24 net0 ============ Lets szap it =============== # szap -c /etc/channels.conf xxxxxxxxxxxxx reading channels from file '/etc/channels.conf' zapping to 2 'xxxxxxxxxxxx': sat 0, frequency = 11081 MHz H, symbolrate 14876000, vpid = 0x1fff, apid = 0x1fff sid = 0x0000 using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0' opening frontend failed: No such file or directory ============ lspcc -vv ============ 00:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 11) Subsystem: Twinhan Technology Co.
