Hi Damien,

Have you tried to do a full scan by yourself using dvbscan instead of using the supplied channels.conf from Chris?

Since there was no channels.conf available for me I had to do that for myself by building a au-Wollongong file from the frequencies given at dba.org.au for my area.

I don't know if this would help but at least you would be doing things from scratch to get the channels, I have got SBS with no troubles where I am.

With Chris's new changes I didn't have to apply any offsets to channel frequencies at all.

Cheers,
Brett

Hi Brett, Jurgen and others,

After failing to compile Chris’s test DVB sources for the DViCO Dual Digital card for about a week on all sorts of different kernels, the patches have made their way into the main dvb sources J  And they work!!  Schweet!  Thanks Chris!

With one small hitch – I am having problems with tuning SBS.   I am using 2.6.17.8 vanilla sources, and the v4l-dvb mercurial sources, about 2 days after Chris’s patches went into the v4l-dvb tree.

I am using the channels.conf file supplied for Brisbane on Chris’s website.

In the past, with the 2.6.18-rc3 kernel out of the box allowed me to tune all channels, albeit Channel 9 and SBS required the +166667Hz offset.

Currently:

-          Channel 9 tunes quite nicely with a +166667Hz offset.

-          ABC, Seven and Ten all tune nicely without offsets

-          SBS refuses to tune (SNR reported by tzap is roughly 5xxx for 10-20s, followed by a brief lock at approx dxxx for 5seconds , then drops out to 0000 forever)

-          SBS does this for 0 offset, +166667 offset and -166667 offset.  The behaviour is quite repeatable.

And furthermore, on (I think) the USB part, tzap –a1 with an offset of +166667, SBS tunes with an snr of about dddd, and manages to hold it.    Even more confusing, using tzap –a0 “SBS HD” (same +166667 offset channels.conf file) on the other adaptor results in the behaviour above.

On –a1, Channel 9 tunes (with offset) nicely as does the others, without an offset.

Any further ideas?  Is there any other information I can provide?

Cheers

Damien.

Yes, Chris e-mailed me himself and said as much but after downloading and using I’m still having no results. I thought maybe at first it could be my current dodgy Arial setup but I have just come back from my mates place whom has a digital set top box etc, that works great with no success either. L

http://pastebin.ca/123294  shows you the results of my scan, as you can tell it’s not very exciting. L after completing this I find this

DVB: demodulator offset has changed for frontend "Zarlink ZL10353 DVB-T". Please report tuning difficulties to linux-dvb@xxxxxxxxxxx
DVB: freq: 191625000, div: 1367 -> 1366, offset: 36166667 -> 36166667, actual: 227665756 -> 227832422

In my dmesg/messages log. I’m going to send the info to chris and see if there is still something wrong or if I’m just doing something completely stupid. :\

Hi Jurgen,

Chris has only just made some modifications to the driver for this card due to its new chipset.

Try a build from Chris's lastest hg tree;

hg clone http://linuxtv.org/hg/~pascoe/v4l-dvb-test/

following the "how to build from hg" instructions.

This driver fixed my DVB-T plus tuning problems and I can tune all my channels down here in Wollongong.

Hopefully Chris doesn't mind me passing this info on, once again thanks to Chris for the great work!

Regards,
Brett
