I'm beginning to wonder if something is screwed with i2c in 2.6.17 (or has changed in some way that DVB isn't updated to cope with yet).... The above shows that the budget-av driver _is_ seeing your card, but its not able to communicate with the stv0299 frontend over the i2c bus. I've seen several other reports of problems like this with 2.6.17 and budget-av + budget-ci.
