The frame structure of DVB-S2 is totally different than
DVB-S, so a DVB-S2 demodulator will not be able to demodulate
a DVB-S stream. E.g. STB0899 contains two completely
seperate demodulators for DVB-S and DVB-S2 mode.
The documents also say that way, a DVB-S demod cannot decode DVb-S2 and
vice versa, but the specs also recommend that DVB-S also be implemented
in a DVB-S2 receiver, for compatibility mode.
Yup, the STB0899 has a DSP for DVB-S + DSS and another one for DVB-S2,
all built in the same chip.
