I have compiled kernels for two years now using CVS or mercurial driver, and
always this way (make /make install - no patching of kernel sources). I
never got so big modules.

Something must have changed in the last weeks, and it should be fixed!

Was there a stripping before? If so, why not now? If not, how else did it
work to get small size modules?

My system is ubuntu with gcc 3.3
