DiBcom USB2.0 DVB-T (problems locking)

Hi,

I've got this USB DVB-T receiver:

ID 10b8:0bc7 DiBcom DiBcom USB2.0 DVB-T reference design (MOD3000P) (warm)

First, I was using the drivers shipped with SUSE 10, then switched to the
drivers "from the mercurian tree" (http://linuxtv.org/hg/)

[first thing to say: the receiver is working with windows, thus the
antenna setup and the reception in this area is fine]

well, If using the firmware from
  http://linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/dvb-usb-dibusb-6.0.0.8.fw

the card seems to be recognised, changes from "cold" to "warm" and the
/dev/dvb/adapter0/* devices are set up, at least as far as I can tell:

/dev/dvb/adapter0/
crw-rw---- 1 root video 212, 4 Apr 20 17:09 demux0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 212, 5 Apr 20 17:09 dvr0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 212, 3 Apr 20 17:09 frontend0
crw-rw---- 1 root video 212, 7 Apr 20 17:09 net0

well. so far, so good. but
 - neither dvbscan can tune to any transponders (using initial files
dvb-t/au-[sS]ydney*, btw: why are some files small letters and some
   capital?)
 - nor tzap (using channels-conf/dvb-t/au-Sydney*) can tune

dvbscan tells "WARNING: >>> tuning failed!!!"
and tzap gives this:

   tuning to 571500000 Hz
video pid 0x00a1, audio pid 0x0051
   status 00 | signal 0000 | snr ffff | ber 001fffff | unc 0000ffff |
   status 00 | signal ff3f | snr 0001 | ber 001fffff | unc 0000ffff |

well, on the driver CD there are the files modload2.{inf,sys} and the inf
file has the line

   DriverVer       = 12/15/2005,6.0.0.12

so I guess that the driver has a newer version 6.0.0.12 of the firmware
(needed for my receiver?) but I have no idea how to extract it from the
sys file.

or is there anything else I am missing?

thanks in advance

  Sergei
