Jep, i had to learn the eeprom boot thing myself. It makes no sense
to apply an external firmware file if there is an eeprom. The decoder
will make use of the eeprom contents as soon as there is a chance, i.e
return from sleep mode.
And yes, the most recent firmware for the tda10046 is 29.

Since the firmware is in an I2C eeprom, it can be updated. What we need
is a writer software. If you volunteer to write it, i can tell you what
needs to be done. I will not have the time to do this in the near
future.
