Hi Michael, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I am still stuck. I am not sure whether I have a blackbird device either. How do I tell? The modules listed in my initial mail including cx88_blackbird are automatically loaded after boot. If I manually unload them and then do a 'modprobe cx88_dvb' there is no cx88_blackbird module any more. Strangely enough the module list looks different in that case: # lsmod Module Size Used by cx88_dvb 7748 0 cx8802 12868 1 cx88_dvb cx88xx 63968 2 cx88_dvb,cx8802 ir_common 9860 1 cx88xx btcx_risc 5064 2 cx8802,cx88xx tveeprom 15504 1 cx88xx videodev 9728 1 cx88xx mt352 6980 1 cx88_dvb video_buf_dvb 6788 1 cx88_dvb dvb_core 84776 1 video_buf_dvb video_buf 22212 4 cx88_dvb,cx8802,cx88xx,video_buf_dvb cx22702 6788 1 cx88_dvb dvb_pll 11012 2 cx88_dvb,cx22702 > Anyhow, I'm curious if this patch helps your situation. > > Patch is located at: > > http://linuxtv.org/~mkrufky/pending/jelle-cx88-mpeg-restart-queue-fix.patch Applied against vanilla kernel 2.6.15 problems are still the same. I seem to have lost the audio meanwhile, but tzap still works: # tzap -c ~achim/.xine/channels.conf.zap eurosport using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0' tuning to 722000000 Hz video pid 0x0241, audio pid 0x0242 status 00 | signal 0029 | snr 8000 | ber 00003fff | unc 00000000 | status 1f | signal 0029 | snr ffff | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK status 1f | signal 0029 | snr ffff | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK status 1f | signal 0029 | snr ffff | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK What confuses me is that I _had_ both xine and klear running on debian kernel 2.6.12 a few days ago. There was only the syslog message Jan 4 12:44:42 dt2ix kernel: cx22702_set_tps: Autodetecting Jan 4 12:44:44 dt2ix last message repeated 7 times which resulted from channel switching but is considered harmless as I learnt in the meantime. Zapping was quite unstable though. Then I did some changes to the overall system while configuring lirc (successful) and vdr (not yet). Doing so I lost the functionality so that xine produces colorful scrambled picture and klear crashes. I am still not sure if I messed something on the application level, such as libxine1 or libxine-dev. Achim
