This is exactly what happens.... Make install doesnt run unless you
specify 'make install'

...at least, that's what happens on my machine.  Is it running
automatically for you?

Hmmm.... If so, please re-post and cc the v4l list -- Mauro should
know about this.... I cannot reproduce the problem.
