I'm using an old HD-2000 with a rooftop antenna and a new HD-5000 with digital cable QAM. With the HD-2000, I used to get a perfect image with the video4linux drivers, but I switched to the DVB drivers several months ago, and started getting digital artifacts popping up in the image occasionally. Now I also get them with the HD-5000 card, but only when recording HD channels; the standard-definition channels are perfect. I'm now running recent CVS DVB with 2.6.14. My first guess was that a buffer was filling up too fast, causing some data loss. I tried a larger value for DVR_BUFFER_SIZE in dmxdev.h, but that didn't seem to help. I have this problem whether I'm recording in MythTV or simply using `cat` to a file. My system is an AMD 2500+. Using mplayer with xvmc hardly taxes the CPU on HD playback, and the glitches are identical on each playback, so I'm confident that it's not a playback issue. Any advice on what to try next? --PC
