But for the normal FTA operation, I'd say you'd just need to go to the kernel config: Device Drivers->Multimedia Devices->Digital Video Broadcasting Devices and select <M> under DVB core support and then <M> for "Budget cards with Onboard CI Connectors" which should load the appropriate modules for the above card. If it's not that exact card, you might need to go to "customise DVB frontends" and select the appropriate front end for you card (find your card on http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/ and look up the front end). Then just "make modules" and "make modules_install", "modprobe dvb_tda1004x" *should* get you going. Install the dvb-apps package from your favourite distro's package library and have a play with dvb_scan, czap etc (man czap ..). This should give you an idea of whether the card is working. Have a look in your kernel syslog file for any error messages when you load the module. If anything looks diabolical, search the the mailing list archives first for the error message (go to google and search for "your Error message here" site:http://www.linuxtv.org) If that doesn't fix your problem then come back and post a description of the issue, along with the relevent kernel log messages and output from the application that isn't working (dvbscan, tzap szap) and someone will probably help you. The DVB drivers in the kernel should be relatively recent. you shouldn't have any need to download the CVS versions. Unless of course your card is very new and there has been a recent fix in CVS.
