[linux-dvb] firmware problems with old Hauppauge nova-t

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi All,

Sorry to bother you all, but I've spent a lot of time
trying to get DVB-t working and have google and
checked the wiki for a solution :-)

Some details about my setup:

Linux Distro: Gentoo-2005.0
Kernel: 2.6.11.10
dvb-drivers: cvs dvb-kernel
dvb-apps: cvs dvb-apps
dvb card: lspci -v listing:

0000:02:08.0 Multimedia controller: Philips
Semiconductors SAA7146 (rev 01)
        Subsystem: Technotrend Systemtechnik GmbH
Technotrend-Budget / Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T DVB card
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64,
IRQ 11
        Memory at fe000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable)

In the kernel config, I have "DVB for linux" option
enabled from "Device Drivers/Multimedia Drivers/D.V.B
Devices"

>From the dvb-kerel/build-2.6 directory I have ran
make, which builds all the kernel modules OK.

The next step is to run "./insmod.sh load" that
displays the following:

Inserting DVB modules into kernel
FATAL: Module i2c_core not found.
FATAL: Module crc32 not found.
FATAL: Module firmware_class not found.
FATAL: Module videodev not found.
FATAL: Module v4l1_compat not found.
FATAL: Module v4l2_common not found.
insmod: error inserting './dvb-usb-digitv.ko': -1
Unknown symbol in module

now when I run dvb-scan I see the following message:

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and
'/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

below is a sniplet from /var/log/messsages:

Here is the contents of my /lib/firmware:

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 30555 May 23 00:17
dvb-fe-tda10045.fw
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24479 May 23 00:17
dvb-fe-tda10046.fw

I got these firmware files using the get_dvb_firmware
from the kernel source tree.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is ?
Is it also posible to build the kernel module with the
firmware built in ? this would rule out any hotplug
issues.

Cheers,
Ben Farrell
