I was directed here regarding using the remote control for my AverTV DVB-T
771.

I've installed lirc, but when I try to get it to use the remote, I get:

lirc_dev: IR Remote Control driver registered, at major 61
The bttv_* interface is obsolete and will go away,
please use the new, sysfs based interface instead.
lirc_gpio (-1): card type 0x7b, id 0x7711461
lirc_gpio (-1): TV card type 0x7b not supported!

When I poked around to find out what could be done about this, I found the
following thread at the lirc SourceForge mailing list archive:

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message...msg_id=10103811

The response to the query being:

"Drivers for this card are not included in LIRC.
 You should use drivers from http://www.linuxtv.org/";

Looking at dmesg, I see (sorry, just fragments 'cos I can't cut-n-paste):

bttv: driver version 0.9.15 loaded
...
bttv0: add subdevice "remote0"
...

but I can't find any info about how to actually access / use that "subdevice".
