Hmm..

The driver does not handle any image processing.. It is done by mplayer 
in your case.. maybe Nico can comment better on the video artefact in 
the picture. or maybe the Mplayer list also, but please do post back 
whatever solution you have done to achieve this on Mplayer on this list.
