u can give these two patches a try, which integrates the source in the kernel 
tree. running fine for me with 2.6.10 and 2.6.11-rc4

http://zwobbl.homelinux.net/pub/patches/nvidia-precompiled-module-6629.patch

apply both it with patch -p1 in kernels root dir and then enable "NVIDIA 
closed source driver" option in char-devices.
