Yup, and these patches are all fine. John is just saying that some removed functions are still used by the persistent_ftrace code, which is out-of-tree (it is in Android kernel git tree only). But we're going to replace persistent_ftrace by pstore/ftrace, and the patches were posted already; so functinality-wise, we didn't lose anything.
