I tried building pdfdocs and psdocs from the latest linux-git on two different
machines, both running Debian Lenny and set to en_GB.UTF-8. Both machines gave
me a corrupt umlaut in the documents; it looks like the typical "utf8-chars in
iso8859 encoding"-glitch. If it works for you without the patch, then there
might be some other setting in the environment which influences the output. As
the patch seems to enforce the correct setting regardless of the environment,
it might be worthwhile still :)
