Interesting, I dug up the old ux500 driver and even though it doesn't have export/import hooked up, it does actually appear to save/restore hardware state. In fact it seems to do it multiple times per request, even when it's unnecessary. I'll try to see if the saving/restoring is subtly different between ux500 and stm32.
