do you really want to keep the fwdata around until close? Wouldn't it be easier to just release it once firmware loading is done?

Can this still happen with the ->prepare callback? If so, then we still have not achieved much. We need to ensure that ->enqueue is protected and not called from hci_ldisc.c core.

Don't we have proper get_unaligned_le16 helpers for this? And that also means you can operate directly only skb->data (after a length check of course).

So I really want to get rid of this part in the driver ->recv should be kept compartmentalized between before HCI is ready and when HCI is ready.

Use a while(1) { } loop here instead. It is easier on the eyes and has the same semantics. I prefer we only do { } while if you actually have an exit condition.

Please get rid of the labels here and do a proper if err then return structuring of the function. You are overdoing it with labels and goto here.

Also is the mrvl_set_baud function actually used? Looks to me that should be just folded into the ->setup call.
