Regarding cpu lock up, there was similar discussion and folks are finding irq poll is good method to resolve lockup. Not sure why NVME driver did not opted irq_poll, but there was extensive discussion and I am also seeing cpu lock up mainly due to multiple completion queue/reply queue is tied to single CPU.
