Block changes hook question

Hi,
I apologize if this mailing list is not the right place to ask this
question, but I`m working on a block level backup utility for linux,
and I don`t know how I could detect block level changes in the linux
kernel. Searched the internet and the documentation for days, but I
can't figure out how could I hook to any function on the block level
which would be executed every time a block on the disk changes. Maybe
somebody can help me with an idea.

Thank you very much,
Zoltan.
