An issue is that newer kernels allocate an individual IRQ to the graphics, while it still might use the same "whatsoever" (perhaps data bus). With older kernels my graphics shares the IRQ with one of my sound cards, with newer kernels, both have their own IRQ, but seemingly that is less important, there are still tons of xruns, so I suspect that it's more important that both seemingly share the same "whatsoever" (perhaps data bus).
