Caustic is a lot of fun, and has some high-quality synths.  The
developer(s) have some good plans for new features--last time I was
following along there was experimental midi device support.  The
desktop version for Mac & Windows is free, but you'll have to pay $8
to get the "save" button on a tablet.

I wish there was a more natural way to do notation for phrases longer
than 1 measure and a way to tune the knobs in smaller increments, but
it's otherwise great.
