Re XRuns:
Have you checked CPU scaling? And hyperthreading (usually a bios setting)? This may be relevant to USB fallouts too.. try it when you have a USB card around.
Personal experience with an Acer tm 5720, even setting to powersave governed makes xruns / fallouts go away.
