Have a look at the reviews.  Such an adapter will not work because the
FireWire and USB protocols are completely different and cannot be mapped
to each other in the general case.

I don't know what that adapter is actually designed for.  Maybe there
are laptops that have so little space that they share a USB connector
for both USB and FireWire controllers, or that thing is just meant to
make the FireWire power lines available for USB charging.
