Thanks guys.

It seemed folks were having trouble running it with jack. That was my reason for asking. Seemingly it would work with alsa. I'm yet to build and try it but will soon.

Until very, very recently, JACK was the only way to do audio i/o on Linux via firewire devices. This is changing, but it is likely that on any given current distro, it is still the case that you would have to use JACK.

Ergo, using ISSE on such a system is no more less than simply starting it up to use JACK, with JACK already running and using your firewire device.
