I actually was writing something I called "Soopadoopad" over a year ago to use the old Launchpad with SL. It connected to SL via OSC and then translated that to MIDI messages to control the Launchpad LEDs. It is a wxPython app but I never got it to a release state. The code is on an external hard drive at work I, I will grab it soon and put it up on github.
