It just shows that the reviewer doesn't know what he's talking about. The preamp provides up to 60 dB of gain. That means it's designed to output a line level signal. This should not be connected to a fixed 30 dB gain mic input. It also has a compressor and is supposed to provide a 'tube sound'. The compressor won't do much and there won't be any tube sound if the internal levels are just a few mV. You need to use the input gain that is available in order to make the thing work as designed. This means that unless there is _passive_ attenuation on the output, it must be connected to a line input, or at most a mic input with much less gain than the 1010lt provides by default.
