Found this by Googling "was not an MTP device". While it's talking about a completely different piece of hardware, the poster is using the same Lenovo U410 you seem to be, running ArchLinux, and apparently the problem is related to libmpt.

Some folk fixed it by removing libmpt entirely, original poster said it was solved with libmtp v1.1.1.
