IIRC yes.

You can only assign the nanokontrol to the software, you can't restore
certain settings presets with certain settings for midi values (e.g. a
certain slider in setBfree)?

Yes you can, the nanoKONTROL has 4 different scenes you can program. And if you need more scenes you can always use tools like mididings or QMidiRoute.
