Does anybody have any clue as to what might be going on? As it is, I've got to retain the windows partition on this machine since it's the only way I can program my FCB1010. Not a disaster, but less than ideal.

I seem to recall the editor for the FCB needs a midi connection with lots of throughput to handle the sysex dumps. Many USB midi interfaces are not up to the task. Even Ripwerx, the cross platform java based editor, has the same problem. Ripwerx should work under linux with your MAudio 2496, but only if you have the UnO firmware for your FCB. The only machine I can use to successfully program my FCB is a windows machine as it has an old-school MPU-401 game port midi adapter
