Ah! Tres bitchin! And, as soon as i sent that whiny note i noticed the free version of Blackmagic DaVinci color correction software has automatic timecode conform, just like Final Cut. This will work for me

The former is already in Ardour3: http://gareus.org/wiki/a3extsync
Video timeline support will merged into A 3.1 early 2013.
