Hi,

I've a qnap nas server (with Debian installed) and I like to play music
(and video) from that server on my n900, laptop etc.
What is the best way to do this?

Best regards,

For videos (and may be musics) you can use serviio.

But for music purpose only I prefer using mt-daapd (firefly) so I can
access my music library from rhythmbox via network.

Serviio and firefly can coexist.
Thanks for the info, there seems all kind of solutions, but I was expecting some kind of discussion between SSHFS and NFS etc. Do I miss something here or ...

You can try also Ampache, media server build Apache. It has a nice Web interface and I've tried Blackberry and Android (Amdroid on the Play Store) clients. That last one don't seem to run very well, it seems rather just a sketch app and many times it won't play.

My two cents.
