It's symptomatic that they couldn't explain themselves clearly at the time.

i.e integrate existing low latency linux audio stack with new java desktop
environment on arm platform...

How hard can it be to explain that. Between JACK and Pulse Audio they
barely had to do any work at all. But instead they ended up reinventing
the wheel with audioflinger.  That's the problem with having Project
Managers who have no idea about the technology they are working on.

Google really dropped the ball on this one. It's up there with the "Buzz"
launch disaster and recording unsecured wifi data in the "street view"
car.
