But, if I try -dhw:1 and use the pulseaudio settings to choose the built-in hardware for sound input, no input is received in pulse. At least, manually killing jackdbus, I can try the new configuration without rebooting. Virtualbox uses alsa here just fine. I guess not 100% sure, but I definitely remember reading on one of their forums one time that they intend to maintain active support only for pulse.
