You could try using 'gnus (the news/mail/anything-reader) as a
playlist-manager.

Say youve got a folder (w. potential sub-folders) of organized materials
in files, boot gnus and hit 'G D', choose a good directory, and youll
get the typical mail-clients split presentaions of headers (ie titles of
files/folders etc), and content of your choice (lyrics, chords, pdfs.,
mime-attachments...), w. various ways of stepping around, marking,
browsing, searching, sorting, scoring...
