Trust me, there is a need here:)  I am on a slightly odd distro of Linux at the moment and what I have is the most up to date I can get at the moment through repos.
 

For older versions: a safe way is to transcode the video into a format
with PAR 1:1 before starting to work with. qjadeo's File->Import does
that using mencoder.


Hmm didn't even realise you added that feature, good to know.

PS. Blender can sync to jack-transport, too. But you don't want to have
Blender render the video at the same time while you're working on the
soundtrack. I have no idea how efficient it is WRT to playing
pre-rendered video, but I suppose it's generally less convenient for
sound-design setups.


Yes Blender can, and I could do that with a second machine, or heck with this machine maybe on the same machine easily enough.  But when all that is wrong is the coloring, it is much easier to use the video and your excellent program:)
