Hello,

I'm no movie head, which is why I'm turning to this list. What would you
pick as some reference/quality film soundtracks produced in the last
decade or so?

Cheers,

Looking at the last decade? I would suggest Danny Elfman's work (eg. T.Burton "nightmare before christmas" or "charlie and the chocolate factory")

Generally speaking: Bernard Hermann ("taxi driver"), Piero Piccioni ("una vita violenta", a film inspired from Pasolini book), Krzysztof Komeda (Polansky "knife in the water")

Forgot to add Howard Shore ("crash", cronenberg)
:)
