Hi,
well essentially I'm doing the same thing just all in one app now. The plan is to make an app with 4 Synth types, who's output will be convolved with the input signal. That will make the sound of the guitar sound more synth-like.

Hello Gerald,

Can't help you with your question but reading your mail reminded me of 
the LV2 pitchdetect plug-in:

I don't know if your application is a bit similar but maybe the above 
project could be helpful anyway.
