I have had an X61s for about 3 years now, and it's still working fine. I
really like having a small, neat and easily portable machine. Also the
nipple mouse suits me because you don't have to take your hands away
from the keyboard to use the mouse. Bear in mind that there's no onboard
CD/DVD drive.
I use an M-Audio Firewire solo card with it. It runs well at 4ms jack
latency, and will run at 2ms with some xruns. This is without a great
deal of effort put into tuning my system for low latency, so I could
almost certainly do better than that.
The only thing that I think could cause problems for high end audio work
is that the firewire interrupt is shared with the soundcard and one of
the usb ports. (See below).
The screen size could be a bit limiting (1024x768), but you could always
get an external monitor for some extra space.
