Hello Massy!
I've looked it up in the drumkit I'm using. Edit your XML file, look for the entry for the hihats and add the command:
<muteGroup>0</muteGroup>
In my hydrogen file it's just above the <layer> tag. I suppose if you need you can have more muteGroups continuing at 1, 2, ... good luck!
