Hi,

I bought a new PC with a Gigabyte PH67 UD3 B3 mobo after my old one died.
I own a Delta 44 so I needed PCI slots. It was hard to find a mobo with PCI slots, it seems to be completely deprecated (same for IDE). Back to home the tragedy started, the Delta does not work at all, kernel error message is :

ICE1712 0000:05:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 19 (level, low) -> IRQ 19
invalid EEPROM (size = 255)
ICE1712 0000:05:00.0: PCI INT A disabled
ICE1712: probe of 0000:05:00.0 failed with error -5

I post some more informations (mainly for other unfortunate users that could google for the problem) : The Delta 44 is working on my old computer but isn't loaded by alsa on a intel H67 chipset based board with legacy PCI ports. I tried the oss 4.2 drivers, same kernel error message but oss is a bit more permissive as it continue to load the board :

oss_envy24 0000:05:01.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
Envy24 WARNING: Possible EEPROM read error ffffffff != d6331412

The card is loaded despite this error message.
I can play with ossmix, but out1/2 and out3/4 are connected to SPDIF (Delta 44 has no SPDIF I/O). I can change some values (e.g. ratelock, rate, in/out gain, does that means the card is partially working?) but the outs are stuck on SPDIF :

Selected mixer 0/M Audio Delta 44
Known controls are:
mon.out1/2 [<leftvol>:<rightvol>] (currently 0.0:0.0 dB)
mon.out3/4 [<leftvol>:<rightvol>] (currently 0.0:0.0 dB)

mon.in3/4 [<leftvol>:<rightvol>] (currently 0.0:0.0 dB)

route.out3/4 <DMA|IN1/2|IN3/4> (currently SPDIF)
gain.out1/2 <+4DB|CONSUMER|-10DB> (currently +4DB)
gain.out3/4 <+4DB|CONSUMER|-10DB> (currently +4DB)
gain.in1/2 <+4DB|CONSUMER|-10DB> (currently +4DB)
gain.in3/4 <+4DB|CONSUMER|-10DB> (currently +4DB)
envy24.rate <8000|9600|11025|12000|16000|22050|24000|32000|44100|48000|88200|96000> (currently 44100)
envy24.ratelock ON|OFF (currently OFF)
envy24.actrate <decimal value> (currently 44100) (Read-only)

I can't heard anything from the board outputs (osstest and ossplay), the card remains unusable.

Here is my diagnostic :

The problem could be caused by :
- Hardware incompatibility : Intel have dropped PCI support with P67 and H67 chipsets, so how can Gigabyte provide legacy PCI support? - A kernel bug : there is no oops, as I don't have another OS I can't confirm (I'll test 2.6.39-RC kernel but I'm quite pessimist).

What is not :
- Alsa driver bug : no because I have the same error with oss4.2
- Broken Delta card : no because it works with another PC

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

David.
