This is the way to go IMHO and I wish more developers would adopt this
philosophy, as separating the UI from the engine means relative ease in
terms of creating new UIs or even controling the engine from other
applications. It also solves the problem of accessibility at the same
time. For instance, LinuxSampler doesn't have a command-line interface
as such, but its simple network-based protocol makes it extremely easy
to send "scripts" to load libraries or change the way the sampler
behaves.
