Dear all, Despite all the instruments being played sloppily, the timing issues and my unstable vocals I had a great time mixing this song with the Furious Desertrix (Qtractor 0.4.7). With the new MIDI learn stuff it is now possible to do automation with the help of an extra 'automation' MIDI track. By using such a track I could automate the Degrade ladspa plugin (thanks Leigh Dyer for the pointer!) in the beginning of the song and the Calf Vintage Delay and Calf Phaser lv2 plugins I used for the vocals and the FluidSynth-DSSI strings. The song itself was recorded in our rehearsal room with Qtractor 0.4.7 too. We did use a click track for this song which allowed me to use effects like the Calf delay. I didn't get to mastering it, I'm thinking about setting up a mastering chain myself instead of using Jamin. Not because I don't like Jamin but I still don't completely fathom this tool and it does not really fit in my (real-time) workflow as it drains quite some resources. In the process of recording and mixing this track I came to realise how much I like Qtractor, it really is such a powerful piece of software. And props to the dev(s) of the Calf plugins, not only are the plugins very usable and do they sound good, they also look stunning.
