I just bought isolating foam, called Mopads. I paid 35 GBP for mine. that's enough for two speakers to sit on. The isolation from the desk is very good now. And it certainly helps a bit, in addition with these pads I can angle the speakers up or down a bit. But I think if you have too much bass in a room, it's also a good deal about the room. I'm still not all together sure about what measures to take and where to put what to get "bass traps" in your room, but I know, there are lads knowledgeable about that, here.
