I've always enjoyed the sound of yamaha's stuff - I owned an S80 for a long time and gigged it heavily, and while some of the patches aren't very cutting-edge compared to the motif series, that board could cut through a mix like crazy and *always* sounded good. I was playing with a crossover country band at the time, and there was a jazz guitar patch that sounded spot-on like a pedal steel guitar. little bit of pitch bend + a volume pedal, and I scared the living hell out of guitar players!!! ("where's the steel?
